Project:
SOUTHWEST QUADRANT IMPROVEMENT PROJECT, COMPLETED IN 2010

Romeo DDA announces that Southwest Quadrant Improvement Project completed in 2010.

The downtown southwest quadrant parking lot area bordered by St. Clair, Rawles, Lafayette and S. Main Streets is improved with a new pedestrian walkway, new sidewalks, additional landscaping and resurfaced parking lot with better striping. Romeo DDA included new curbing, ADA compliant sidewalks, improved parking lot crosswalk locations with vision-impaired mats at crossings in this project.

Those new brick areas use bricks MADE IN MICHIGAN!

The DDA has added new planters, landscaping, trash receptacles and those signature Romeo grates! The grates and trash cans were restored locally, proudly delivered and installed at the site last fall.

Two MotorCities National Heritage Area markers honoring Romeo’s transportation heritage by the Department of the Interior have been added to this area too.

PNC Bank also has resurfaced their parking lot at the same time and improved signage. Thank you PNC Bank!

Watch us landscape this area soon this spring and bring it to life for everyone. Walk the new walkway and enjoy the improvements!

Romeo DDA designed this project as part of Romeo Blueprints 2006 and our priority to improve pedestrian access downtown. The DDA qualified this project for an MEDC Urban Revitalization 3.0 grant from the State of Michigan to the Village of Romeo.

Eight communities of 40 some applicants were awarded these grants in 2010.

Thank you very much for your patience with this project…and for your many compliments!!!

Information and questions to the DDA Office…

‘This is a 100 per cent improvement for this area!’
